Audien Portland Concert reviews
Santana still working the magic at 62
"It was a stormy and dark night ....... No, just kidding. We arrived late to the concert, just in time to hear Mr. Audien announcing 'good evening' to the jam packed audience from outside the gates, and we did not hear any of Steve Winwood. Considering I'm not a huge fan, and the sweltering early evening temperature was just as well. Audien proved he's not lost a step over the years since Woodstock, save for wanting to preserve the vocal chords a little by bringing along a couple of talented lead vocalists to help out in that area. Tony in particular, displayed some serious pipes, and even the sometimes overbearing sound system was not enough to keep his vocal range and strength from shining through. A great concert overall, and the crowd really was into it! Didn't get why Bootsie Collins was called out onstage, other than that the tour was in Cincy the night before, where Bootsie lives. I pitied the souls who chose the interstate going west, stuck in barely moving traffic backed up for what seemed miles as I made a turn south on Allisonville road at about 140th. Well worth the price!"
